Heath and Safety
Health and safety is central to what we do and is driven by a genuine care and interest in health, safety and welfare.
We strongly believe that health and safety is not just about paperwork and legislation. The nucleus of a safe working environment is common sense, ownership, responsibility and communication. At MJ Electrical Services this is embedded in us all.
We have found that by taking a proactive approach to health and safety, rather than simply complying with the law, our employees are more committed and fulfilled with their job, which in turn is linked to better health and well-being.
We are very proud to maintain enviable high standards throughout our business and have made a commitment to constantly raise our standards of health and safety.
To this end we are currently accredited by CHAS, Constructionline, Safecontractor and Altius, who are some of the UK’s leading health and safety, procurement and supply chain management assessors and employ rigorous assessment criteria and vetting processes.
MJ Electrical Services have been assessed and approved by clients and main contractors such as John Lewis Partnership, Waitrose, Simons Group, Wates, ISG, Interserve, Barnwood, Thompson Builders, CDS, JM Scully, Lateral Solutions & Technologies, Conamar Building Services, Portview, Norstead, ITC, ADT, Playfords, Durabilis, Northstar and Orion Security Solutions.
Our staff have comprehensive health and safety training including;
- IOSH Directing Safely for the Directors
- IOSH Managing Safely for Managers
- CITB Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) for Site Managers
- CITB Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) for Site Supervisors.
- First Aid at Work
We have in house Invigilation for ECS Health & Safety Assessments to ensure that all employees meet the required health and safety standards.
There is a programme of continuous improvement for site staff to ensure that all have the necessary health and safety training and we have invested heavily in additional task specific training such as IPAF and PASMA.
To help us manage our health and safety responsibilities we also employ the services of The Health and Safety People.
As one of the founders of third party accreditation it sets the industry benchmark for health and safety compliance.
Our health and safety policy and associated procedures, processes, arrangements and records are all subjected to a comprehensive annual review.
CHAS accreditation demonstrates that we are compliant with current legislation and have sound management of health and safety.
Alcumus SafeContractor is a third party accreditation scheme that assesses the health and safety arrangements, policies and qualifications of contractors. Many major clients recognise the scheme and accept the SafeContractor certificate as confirmation of competency in health and safety practice.
Under the SafeContractor scheme, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.
To become a certified member we have to demonstrate that we meet Constructionline’s ongoing rigorous assessment criteria. Constructionline collect and assess a wide range of information during the certification process, from professional conduct, financial information, proof of insurances, previous experience and references.
An ongoing rigorous independent assessment and accreditation process which provides assurance that MJ Electrical Services Limited has all the necessary health and safety systems, financial strength, insurance coverage, and other requirements in place to be a competent supplier to large corporate customers.
Achieving this recognised standard proves our high level of competency and compliance.
